Last year, 14,135 traffic accidents were reported. A total of 2,276 persons were killed, and 15,409 were injured to varied degrees. This information was presented in a statement published by the Ghana Police Service’s Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD). In comparison, there were 14,960 traffic collisions in 2022, with 2,373 persons killed and 15,690 wounded.

Accra had 4,797 road crashes, Tema had 994, Eastern had 490, Eastern North had 139, Eastern South had 881, Central had 576, Central East had 295, Central North had 196, Western had 706, Western North had 237, Ashanti had 2,312, Ashanti North had 421, and Ashanti South had 684.
Volta had 319, Volta North had 101, Oti had 49, Northern had 115, North East had 41, Savanna had 66, Upper West had 147, Upper East had 143, Bono had 133, Bono East had 165, and Ahafo had 128.
There were a total of 23,998 automobiles participated. There were 8,084 commercial vehicles, 10,767 private cars, and 5,147 motorbikes.
