
Public Relations Officer assures public of ongoing investigation and pursuit

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service, Superintendent Abdul Latif Adamu, has assured the public that the institution is vigorously pursuing the recapture of a Chinese inmate who recently escaped from the Nsawam Prison.
The inmate, who was serving a one-year sentence for theft and other serious offences, reportedly feigned illness and was subsequently transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for medical attention on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
Superintendent Adamu, speaking in an interview with Eyewitness News on February 12, 2024, confirmed the incident and affirmed that the Prisons Service is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to locate and apprehend the fugitive.
“We have gathered a lot of leads that are proving to be successful in what we are doing,” he stated, indicating that progress is being made in the investigation.
Reports indicate that the escaped inmate was initially arrested in Tema before being transferred to the Nsawam Maximum Security Prison.
The Prisons Service urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the escapee to come forward, emphasizing the importance of cooperation from the public in ensuring the swift resolution of the situation.
The incident remains under investigation, and the Prisons Service assures the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the community.
