The Government of Ghana has announced the release of GHC150 million for the repair of potholes across the country. This allocation, part of the Ministry of Finance‘s first-quarter disbursements to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, aims to facilitate prompt engagement and payment to road contractors tasked with patching potholes.

The initiative comes as a response to the significant deterioration of major roads caused by heavy rains last year. With the dry season underway, the Ghana Highways Authority and the Department of Urban Roads are poised to leverage this opportunity to undertake routine pothole patching activities.
Officials from the Ministry of Roads and Highways expressed optimism that this timely intervention will lead to smoother road surfaces, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and extending the lifespan of the nation’s road infrastructure. Moreover, they reiterated the ministry’s unwavering commitment to addressing road network challenges nationwide and urged cooperation from all stakeholders in achieving this goal.
