The Head of Political Science at the University of Ghana, Professor Alidu Seidu, advocates for President Akufo-Addo’s firm stance on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill. Passed by Parliament, the bill aims to restrict LGBT activities and their promotion, drawing attention to cultural values and international pressures.
In an interview with Citi News, Professor Seidu emphasized President Akufo-Addo’s obligation to prioritize national interest and uphold Ghana’s cultural values.
He highlighted the influence of LGBTQ lobbyists from America and Europe, noting their efforts to impose such norms on other nations.
Professor Seidu stressed the president’s responsibility to protect Ghana’s interests and culture, urging him to consider the desires of Ghanaians over international pressures.
“LGBTQ lobbyists wield significant influence, pressuring governments to adopt their attitudes,” remarked Professor Seidu. “President Akufo-Addo must represent Ghana’s interests foremost, even if they differ from international norms.”
He added that, the president’s duty to weigh the preferences of Ghanaians against international pressures, underscoring the importance of protecting national interests and cultural values.
