Despite a strike initiated by three teacher unions, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive to junior and senior high school headteachers to maintain school operations while ensuring student safety.

In defiance of the ongoing strike by three major teacher unions, namely the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), the Ghana Education Service (GES) has asserted its stance on keeping educational institutions functional. The strike, which commenced on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, is a result of the unions’ grievances concerning the government’s purported neglect in addressing their conditions of service.
In a statement released amidst the labor dispute, the GES emphasized the importance of upholding educational continuity and student welfare. While acknowledging the concerns raised by the aggrieved unions, the GES urged parents to maintain composure amidst the situation.
