Former spokesperson for the New Force Movement, Shalimar Abbiusi, has declared her intention to sue the government of Ghana at the ECOWAS court for alleged human rights violations and injustice.

The decision comes in the wake of her arrest and subsequent deportation by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on charges of illegal entry in December 2023.

Criticisms against the GIS for purported human rights abuses were voiced by Abbiusi’s attorney, Francis-Xavier Sosu.

In a statement shared on her X profile (formerly Twitter) on Friday, March 22, Abbiusi expressed gratitude to Sosu and the New Force Movement for supporting her in this legal battle.

According to her, “her actions are motivated by a desire to advocate for justice and to bring attention to similar injustices faced by others.”

The move underscores a commitment to upholding human rights standards and seeking accountability for alleged violations.
