
The first female Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Mawuena Adzo Trebarh is reported dead.

The sister of the late BBC Broadcaster, Komla Dumor passed away on Thursday (11 April) barely a day to her 53rd birthday.

Mrs. Mawuena Adzo Trebarh made history as the first woman to hold the position of CEO at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), serving from April 2013 to January 2017. During her tenure, she spearheaded initiatives to facilitate and promote investments across all sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
Prior to her role at the GIPC, Mrs. Trebarh founded Inspire Africa Consult Limited, a consulting firm specializing in business strategy. Her diverse background included senior executive positions at Ashanti Goldfields Company Ltd, Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd., and Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN).
Under her leadership, the GIPC experienced significant growth and recognition, including winning the prestigious award for the best Investment Promotion Agency in Western and Central Africa. Mrs. Trebarh’s strategic vision and relentless dedication resulted in a surge in foreign direct investment, even amidst challenging economic conditions.
Her passion for service extended beyond her professional achievements. Mrs. Trebarh was a recipient of numerous national and international awards, recognizing her contributions to trade investment, agro-processing, and youth leadership.
