May Day: I will provide tricycles for Kayayo workers if elected as President – Dr. Sam Ankrah

Independent Presidential Candidate and Leader of the Alternative Force for Action (AFA), Dr. Sam Ankrah, has announced plans to supply tricycles to head porters (kayayos) if elected as President of Ghana. He believes that prohibiting the carrying of heavy loads will enhance health and safety practices in the workplace. In a press statement expressing gratitude to Ghanaian labor workers, he outlined the party’s vision for the Ghanaian labor market.

“Our vision for the Ghanaian labor market includes: Implementing a living minimum wage to ensure decent earnings and a dignified life for all workers, Promoting health and safety by banning the carrying of heavy loads on human heads and promoting safer work practices, Providing tricycles for Kayayo workers to alleviate their burden and improve their working conditions.”

He further outlined plans to implement compulsory pension schemes for all workers and to invest in human capital development through training and education.

“Implementing compulsory pension schemes for all workers to ensure a secure future, abolishing compulsory retirement age, allowing workers to choose when to retire with dignity, introducing apprenticeship programs to develop skills, enhance employability, and foster innovation, investing in human capital development through training, capacity building, and education, fostering patriotism, ethical standards, and national unity among workers, promoting a more prosperous Ghana for all.”
