The present voter registration exercise has been extended, according to the Electoral Commission (EC). The drill originally scheduled to end on May 27 will now end on May 29, having been extended by two days. The EC stated in a message to the public that this extension is intended to make up for the time lost as a result of network issues. The exercise is now scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The notice stated that this arrangement was made to make up for the network issues that were encountered during the first two (2) days of the registration process. The notification restated the commission’s pledge to guarantee that everyone who meets the requirements be given the chance to register.
The statement went on, “We encourage all eligible citizens who haven’t registered to vote to visit the Commission’s office in the district where they reside.” The goal of the restricted voter registration drive, which got underway on May 7, is to make voter cards available to eligible voters and first-time voters.
