The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has responded to recent concerns about thefts from unaccompanied luggage at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

A recent article highlighted the frustrations of numerous individuals at the KIA baggage complaints office, who reported missing items from their luggage. The publication urged GACL to enforce stricter access controls to prevent unauthorized entry into luggage storage areas.

In a statement released on Sunday, June 16, GACL management acknowledged the concerns and announced immediate steps to investigate and address the issue.

“Furthermore, plans are already in motion to restrict access to non-travellers and unauthorized personnel at security zones, such as baggage hold areas”, the statement read. It further emphasized that individuals found guilty of theft or extortion would face severe legal consequences.

GACL assured the public of its commitment to maintaining safe and secure operations at the airport, prioritizing the security and satisfaction of its passengers.
