The court has admitted into evidence the full WhatsApp conversation between Richard Jakpa and Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame. This decision comes despite objections from Jakpa’s lawyers, who opposed the court admitting the entire conversation.

During cross-examination, the prosecution sought to tender the full complement of the WhatsApp chat, which includes 68 messages from Richard Jakpa and two responses from Godfred Dame. However, Thaddeus Sory, representing Richard Jakpa, argued that the conversation submitted by the prosecution differed from what was on Jakpa’s phone.

Sory pointed out discrepancies in the dates shown on the messages, raising concerns about the authenticity of the messages presented. He argued that admitting the Attorney General’s version of the WhatsApp conversations would create substantial prejudice.

The prosecution, led by Director of Public Prosecutions Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa, countered that the messages were relevant to the case, especially since the accused admitted not submitting the entire conversation.

Ultimately, the judge ruled to admit the WhatsApp conversation presented by the prosecution, stating that the exhibit would not result in any prejudice.
