Michael Nii Yarboi, a disqualified parliamentary aspirant for the NDC Odododiodoo constituency, has been arrested following the issuance of a bench warrant against him. He faces criminal charges of assault, accused of slapping a resident of James Town and an NDC branch executive in Odododiodoo.

The prosecution reported Yarboi to the Dansoman Circuit Court, alleging he deliberately evaded court proceedings. The case was initially scheduled for hearing on Thursday, June 20, but was adjourned to June 24.

On June 24, Yarboi did not appear in court. The police prosecutor informed the court that Yarboi was intentionally disregarding court orders. Consequently, the court issued a bench warrant for his arrest at the prosecutor’s request.

Sources close to the prosecution confirm that Michael Yarboi has been arrested following the court’s directive. The case has been rescheduled for July 8, 2024.
