The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has summoned its Central Region leadership to appear before the party’s national executives on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, following an alleged unauthorized withdrawal of the Assin Central parliamentary candidate.
“The leadership of the party has taken notice of a document in circulation on social media purported to be coming from the Regional Secretariat of the Central Region titled “WITHDRAWAL OF NUREIN SHAIBU MIGYIMAH AS NDCs 2024 PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE OF THE ASSIN CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT”. The said letter seeks to communicate a decision of the Regional Functional Executive Committee in respect of the withdrawal of the Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate to the Constituency Chairman and the Secretary”.
The national leadership denounced this action as inappropriate and in violation of the party’s constitution, stating it was taken without the approval of the National Executive Committee.
“The above-mentioned action if true, was taken without the approval of the National Executive Committee and is considered inappropriate, and in contravention of due process and the provisions of articles 40, 41, 46 and 48 of the NDC constitution”.
The regional chairman and secretary have been called to explain the circumstances surrounding the issuance of this controversial letter.
