Former Communication Aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Agona West Constituency, Mr. Harrison K. Aglago, has urged the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) to investigate the NPP parliamentary candidate in the Agona West Constituency in the Central Region of Ghana.
He accused Hon. Chris Arthur, the PC, of misusing state funds and living an opulent lifestyle. According to Aglago, the degree to which Arthur spends money and distributes items in the constituency raises suspicion.
He alleged that the PC spent huge sums of money during funerals, which could have been channeled into constituency development. “How can a young man who has worked for barely four years be paying GH₵5,000 to GH₵10,000 at every funeral event for close to 3 years now?” he lamented.
Aglago claimed that Mr. Arthur, who works with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has given out over 180 hair dryers, 278 sewing machines, and 800 standing fans. He also alleged that Arthur paid bribes for over 170 students to gain admission into nursing and colleges of education. Aglago is urging the NIB to question Arthur’s source of income beyond his government salary.
Mr. Aglago detailed that his close-source investigation revealed that the aforementioned items were allegedly stolen from the YEA. He stated, “Items which should be distributed to youth in the constituency irrespective of their political background are rather finding their way into the houses of NPP foot soldiers.”
“Just yesterday, the whopping amount of money the PC sprayed and the items shared at a funeral in our constituency was beyond all human expectations,” Aglago added.
He stressed that the PC began such undemocratic behavior by using money to buy the conscience of delegates during the NPP’s last parliamentary primaries. Aglago reiterated that Arthur ought to be investigated to disclose his source of income before it creates further complications in the country’s political scene.
