The Judicial Service of Ghana has initiated legal action against the Attorney General, Lands Commission, and Frimps Oil Company Limited regarding developments on a piece of land opposite the American Embassy in Cantonments, Accra.
In its suit filed at the High Court, the Judicial Service claims ownership of the land and six bungalows currently under encroachment. Solicitor Mandy Dzifa Kwawukume stated that these residences recently housed several justices, including Justice Yaw Appau, Justice C. J. Honyenugah, Justice Vida Akoto Bamfo, and 10 others, as well as one Robin Batu family.
The Judicial Service seeks a court declaration affirming it as the lawful occupant of the land and bungalows labeled Plot 3A to 3F, which include six houses. They also demand a ruling that any purported sale, lease, grant, or disposal of this land and bungalows is unconstitutional and unlawful.
Additionally, the Judicial Service is asking for general damages, costs, and an order for a perpetual injunction. This injunction would prevent the defendants or their representatives from entering, selling, leasing, granting, or disposing of the contested land and bungalows.
