Parliament has approved the nominations of Herbert Krapah as Minister of State for the Energy Ministry and Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. However, the approval process was marked by controversy as the Minority staged a walkout before the vote.
The Minority caucus protested the nominations, arguing that President Akufo-Addo’s appointments would bloat the government and increase expenditure. Their walkout followed an earlier boycott of the vetting process by the Appointments Committee, where they raised similar concerns.
Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin countered the Minority’s claims, asserting that the government is not expanding unnecessarily despite the economic challenges.
