Democracy Hub Plans Three-Day Protest from September 21

Democracy Hub has announced its intention to conduct a three-day protest from September 21 to September 23 at Revolutionary Square, situated across Liberation Road, opposite Jubilee House.

In an official statement, Democracy Hub confirmed that it has duly informed Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, in compliance with the Public Order Act. The protest, organized by the group, will commence at 6:00 AM.

The demonstration aims to highlight crucial national issues, including socio-economic injustices, unemployment, escalating poverty levels, state capture, nepotism, corruption, and the necessity for judicial independence.

“Democracy Hub, known for its leadership in the #FixTheCountry and #OccupyJulorbiHouse movements, hereby notifies the public and media outlets of our forthcoming peaceful protest themed ‘A New Constitution for a New Generation’.”

“The protest will start at 6:00 AM on September 21 and conclude at 11:59 PM on September 23, 2024, at Revolutionary Square, across Liberation Road, opposite Jubilee House. Democracy Hub has formally informed the Inspector General of Police in accordance with the Public Order Act.”

Purpose of the Protest
This demonstration aims to address various critical issues affecting Ghanaian society, with a focus on socio-economic injustices, unemployment, rising poverty, state capture, nepotism, corruption, and the urgent need for judicial independence.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful and well-organized protest. In September 2023, Democracy Hub organized a similar protest, #OccupyJulorbiHouse, which led to the arrest of some members by the police.
