Fuel prices have surpassed GH¢15 per litre as several oil marketing companies (OMCs) have initiated price increases with the start of July’s second pricing window.
One of the prominent OMCs, Shell, previously selling petrol at GHȼ14.80 per litre, has raised prices to GHȼ15.10, while diesel, formerly GH¢14.92 per litre, is now priced at GHȼ15.25.
More OMCs are expected to follow suit with upward adjustments in pump prices in the coming days.
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) had anticipated a 4% increase in petroleum product prices ahead of the second pricing window for July, effective Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
