The Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council in the Central Region, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, has expressed frustration with the government and the Ministry of Roads for neglecting all roads in Gomoa West, Gomoa East, and Gomoa Central.
He indicated that the chiefs and people of Gomoa will take the state of their roads into account when voting.
Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI made these remarks after being caught in a traffic jam on his way to the hospital, caused by angry drivers who had blocked the road due to its poor condition. The demonstration was intended to pressure the government to repair the road.
In a media interview, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI mentioned that they have yet to see the benefits of the “Year of Roads” initiative under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He noted that the government has not constructed any roads in the three Gomoa constituencies over the past eight years.
The Paramount Chief appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to address the issue of Gomoa roads before the December elections.
In response, the DCE for Gomoa West, Bismarck Nkum, called for calm. He assured that he is working diligently with the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the President to fix the Gomoa Dawurampong and Apam roads.
