Former President John Dramani Mahama‘s office has expressed “profound satisfaction” with the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) ruling that exonerates him from allegations in the Airbus ‘scandal’.
In a statement released following the OSP’s ruling, the office emphasizes that this ruling “reaffirms what we have always known: John Dramani Mahama is a man of integrity, a leader committed to the principles of honesty and transparency”.
The statement signed by special aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, also notes that the UK’s Serious Fraud Office had previously clarified that Mahama’s brother and others involved had no case to answer, despite the current government’s persistent framing of the issue for political gain.
The statement reveals that President Nana Akufo-Addo personally requested the investigation into Mahama, according to the OSP’s findings. This revelation, the office claims, “casts an even darker shadow on the motives behind the initial accusations.”
In response, Mahama’s office has challenged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to “subject themselves to equal scrutiny and transparency.”
The former president reaffirms his commitment to Ghana’s progress and anti-corruption efforts, vowing to continue advocating for “a better Ghana for all” despite what his office terms as “fabrications or machinations by political opponents.”
