As a young man in civil society organizational work, I used to respect those senior members who spoke the truth to protect societal welfare and public interest. My encounter with Owula Mangotey on two occasions really deflates my perception that, some of these senior members of civil society organizations are working for their stomachs, dishonest and untruthful just to end their daily bread.
Owula Mangotey must not be taken seriously; his write-ups and publications are “unworthy of trust.
Fast-forward, Owula Mangotey came out with a write-up accusing Col Retired Gbevelo Lartey of using a newspaper belonging to him Gbevelo Lartey publishing he Owula Mangotey’s write-up without his permission with the heading “RE: OWULA MANGOTEY IS A KNOWN HIRELING OF THE CDS (LT. GENERAL OPONG-PEPRAH)”
First of all, Owula Mangotey paddled falsehood there was no publication to that effect and Col. Gbevelo Lartey does not own any newspaper publication company. Owula Mangotey of late is ready to destroy persons he finds in the way of the NPP and his paymasters.
The accusations were just to get Col Retired Gbevelo Lartey into his story, creating unnecessary tension between Gbevelo Lartey and CDS Lt General Opong Perprah for his usual selfish interest or a reason best known to him. I suspect that story was written for Mangotey to circulate to denigrate the veteran Gbevelo Lartey as a way of satisfying his paymaster’s agenda against Gbevelo ahead of the 2024 General elections. None of the accusations have any iota of truth.
It will interest you to know that in early somewhere February 2021 my civil society organization by name Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana ADAM-GH came out with our investigative findings where some Mamprusis Military officers were deployed to Bawku to maintain peace between their tribes men Mamprusis and Kusaasis conflict.
These soldiers stormed a community in Bawku called Buabula, killing eight (8) unarmed civilians at one spot and a four-Year-old child who were all Kusaasis. The youth upon realizing that the actions of the military were inhumane and unprofessional, decided to face the soldiers and lo and behold, the three soldiers who were overpowered by the community members two happened to be Mamprusis by tribe.
When ADAM-GH reported this accurate information to the media; Owula Mangotey and Adam Bonaa came out to deny it on behalf of the military regardless of the military unprofessional conduct.
This same Owula Mangotey even went further to say he has visited the injured soldiers at 37 military hospitals and none of the injured soldiers are Mamprusis.
The military hierarchy also came to deny that none of the injured soldiers at 37 military hospitals are Mamprusis by tribe.
This agitation went on between ADAM-GH and Ghana Armed forces, Adam Bonaa and Owula Mangotey for several days before the former CDS AMOAMAH stepped in and invited ADAM-GH, and secretary of National Peace council Rev. Stephen Amoah to Burma Camp for a meeting.
At the meeting, the evidence provided by ADAM-GH was indisputable and CDS AMOAMAH and Defense Intelligence Major General Nsiah came out to accept the fact that yes indeed some of the injured soldiers were Mamprusis but it was not deliberate deployment.
According to Major General Nsiah Defense Intelligence, they thought the injured soldiers
deployed were Dagombas by tribe until we provided evidence showing that they were Mamprusis soldiers.
According to DI Ghana Armed Forces do not check their men on tribal lines before deployment because they know every soldier has gone through proper training to be professional in their conduct but it was unfortunate it happened this way.
After the Military hierarchy accepted the fact that some of the injured soldiers were Mamprusis they apologized to the people of Kusaug, especially Zugrana Abugrago Azoka II. According to Owula Mangotey and Adam Bonaa, they reported that; “they have visited the injured soldiers in 37 military hospitals and none of them are Mamprusis by tribe” complete DISHONESTY.
From there, I thought this dishonest Owula Mangotey would have apologized to Ghanaians for peddling falsehood as Adam Bonaa did and even visited Bawku together with the top security hierarchy IGP, CDS, Interior, and Defense minister.
Who are these so-called security experts working for, societal welfare or their stomachs?
Are these so-called senior security experts shortchanging the public interest for their selfish gains?
Are they now using the name “security experts” to enrich themselves through politicians to the detriment of the general public?
Your guess is as good as mine.
I am leaving Owula Mangotey with a Bible quotation that says:” Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruits, but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. “A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. “Wherefore by their fruits, ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:15–20.)
