Tragedy struck the Wallembelle community in the Sissala East municipality of the Upper West region on Saturday, August 17, when a robbery attack claimed the lives of two individuals.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 pm when four armed men launched an assault on a local mobile money vendor. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, who arrived on two motorbikes, stormed the shop and began firing indiscriminately as they stole an undisclosed amount of money.
A witness who survived the attack, speaking on the condition of anonymity, described the harrowing events. After the robbers had looted the shop, two of them encountered difficulties starting their motorbike, delaying their departure.
Seizing the opportunity, one of the victims, Tordia Munkailu, bravely attempted to raise an alarm and pursued the robbers. Unfortunately, the attackers responded with gunfire, killing both Munkailu and another victim, Fuseini Benorwuo, before fleeing the scene, leaving behind the malfunctioning motorbike.
The Wallembelle community is now gripped by fear and shock in the wake of this violent incident.
