Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has thrown his full support behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, calling him a man destined to lead Ghana into a brighter future.
Speaking in a video message during the NPP’s Manifesto Launch in Takoradi on Sunday, August 18, 2024, Kufuor highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s unique qualities and readiness to guide the country through modern challenges.
Kufuor expressed his strong confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to drive a digital revolution in Ghana, should he be elected as President. He described Bawumia as “custom-made” for the role, emphasizing his deep political background and commitment to the party’s ideals.
“I believe in the man of the moment–the whole world is talking about digitalisation. Bawumia is cut for the occasion, custom-made. He studied politics, and he was born into politics, because of his loyalty to the tradition which is why the party gave him a chance to lead,” Kufuor remarked.
He praised Dr. Bawumia’s expertise in geopolitics and his vision for strengthening international relations and advancing digital and social policies that will benefit the nation. Kufuor portrayed him as “a man of destiny, insightful, and humble,” urging Ghanaians to support him as the leader who can tackle the country’s challenges.
Kufuor also expressed optimism that the NPP’s manifesto, under Bawumia’s leadership, would be well-received by Ghanaians, reaffirming his belief that Bawumia is the right leader for these times.
