The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially started the 2024 school selection process for candidates who took the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The process, which began on Thursday, August 28, 2024, will continue until September 4, 2024.
In a statement signed by Mr. Prince Agyemang-Duah, Acting Director of the Schools and Instruction Division, parents and guardians are encouraged to participate actively in the selection process to ensure a smooth placement for their wards.
This year, a total of 570,461 candidates who sat for the BECE will choose from a variety of Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. Additionally, candidates will have the option to select STEM subjects, including biomedical science, engineering science, and agriculture.
To ensure transparency and adherence to guidelines, GES officials from the headquarters will oversee the selection process across the country. Regional Directors of Education have been instructed to inform stakeholders about the selection process dates.
In a new development, candidates will be able to confirm their school choices via a short code, with further details to be provided later. Two phone lines have been provided for parents, students, and stakeholders to resolve any challenges they may encounter during the selection process.
