Fans Vandalize Property at Baba Yara Stadium After Ghana’s Loss to Angola

Following Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, frustrated fans resorted to acts of violence, marking the end of Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the stadium.

Throughout the match, fans grew increasingly agitated as the Black Stars struggled to create clear scoring opportunities on a poor-quality pitch. Angola’s Felicio Milson scored in added time, securing the victory and giving Angola their first win in Group F, which also includes Sudan and Niger. In another Group F match, Sudan defeated Niger 1-0.

In response to Milson’s late goal, some fans expressed their frustration by throwing plastic bottles onto the pitch. After the final whistle, several fans breached the stadium’s inner perimeter, trampling and breaking wooden pitch panels.

Before the match, some fans forced their way into the stadium by breaking through a gate at the T.I. Ahmadiyya end of the grounds. Ghana is set to face Niger next on Monday, September 9, in Morocco at 15:00 GMT.
