Barely a year and a half after joining the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. John Demuyakor, of the Department of Communication Studies has topped the publication chart for the first quarter of 2024 of the university’s research output with four publications.
Dr. Demuyakor graduated from the prestigious Communication University of China, Beijing in 2022, with over 7 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. As of the second quarter of 2024, over 36 of his research publications are abstracted and indexed by the Web of Science/Scopus, and Google Scholar journals. Between 2020 and the first quarter of 2024, his publications have attracted over 1000 citations of his articles.
In 2021, three of his top-provoking articles were recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Department of Education as literature on Health Communication, and online learning during the COVID-19 global public health emergency. He has three research articles at various stages of double-blind peer review.
Besides academics, Dr. Demuyakor served as the Chapter President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) for the Beijing 2021/2022 academic year; Academic Committee Chairman (NUGS- Beijing 2020/2021); National Academic Committee Member, (NUGS-China 2020/2021); Chairman, National Academic Sub-committee for Academic and Carrier Development (NUGS-China 2020/2021).
Dr. Demuyakor is also an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast, University of Development Studies, University of Education Winneba, and a former student of Sunyani Secondary School. He is a member of the OAADG-Organization of Africa Academic Doctors Global and IAMCR – International Association for Media and Communication Research, Beijing.
