As the 2024 General Elections approach, the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has issued a firm warning against any attempts to disrupt the electoral process through violence.
Led by Chairman Daniel Titus-Glover, the council assured the public that extensive security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful election. The council’s statement came during a simulation exercise held by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the region. The event highlighted the readiness of security forces to respond to any potential threats.
Titus-Glover specifically called on citizens to avoid engaging in any form of violence, stressing that law enforcement is fully prepared to act swiftly and decisively to maintain order during the December polls.
He warned, adding that those inciting others to violence should reconsider and instead encourage their own children to participate in such acts.
“I urge everyone to refrain from any form of violence, anyone planning to cause trouble should abandon such intentions immediately as we are fully prepared to respond to any situation in the December Polls.”
“If someone tries to incite you to commit violence refuse and tell them to send their own children instead. Let it be known that the security forces will swiftly act decisively against anyone involved in violence.”
