The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has thrown its unflinching support to Organized Labour‘s proposed strike action over the government’s handling of illegal mining activities.
In a press release, the GPRTU National Secretariat directed its regional branches to join the strike if the government fails to declare a state of emergency regarding the destruction of forest reserves and water bodies by galamsey operations by October 10, 2024.
“In that perspective, the National Secretariat is directing the Regional Secretariats of the Union to join the strike action if the Government fails to act on the demands of Organized Labour by 10th October 2024.” the statement read, urging members to prepare for the potential action.
