The Public Service Workers’ Union (PSWU) of TUC Ghana has instructed all members to abstain from work starting Thursday, October 10, 2024, until further notice.

This directive follows the expiration of a deadline set by Organised Labour, with the government failing to address issues related to illegal mining, commonly known as “galamsey.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 8, the PSWU confirmed that the strike action is part of a collective decision by Organised Labour, which the union fully supports.

Management has been formally notified and urged to respect the union’s stance.

“All PSWU members, being part of the TUC (Ghana) and Organized Labour, are directed to stay off work effective Thursday, 10th October 2024, until further notice. Management dealing with the PSWU are hereby notified and implored to respect the decision of Organized Labour.”
