The Presidency has directed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, Kwahu Abenehene, Kwahumanhene, who also serves as the board chairman of ADB Bank, to respond to allegations of defrauding a businessman of over 2 million cedis.
This follows a petition by the Chief Executive Officer of Prahbat Trading Limited, Collins Darkwa Aboagye pleading to the president to intervene and help retrieve some GHC 2,406,000.00 cedis owed him by the board chairman of ADB.
According to the petitioner, sometime in 2021, he approached ADB Bank on behalf of Prahbat Trading Limited for an export credit facility to support the business. Still, the bank’s processing procedures were unduly delayed.
In the early part of 2022, he approached one of the chiefs in Kwahu named Nana Anim Dwumfour II (Ankobeahene of Kwahu Abetifi) to speak with Daasebre to intervene in his capacity as the board chairman of the Bank.
“Ankoabehene and I met Daasebre at a house in Christian Village where he pledged to facilitate the loan for me on some conditions.
1. That I pay him an amount of GHC 50,000 and
2. To further give him a loan out of the total amount to be disbursed by the bank” he said.
According to Collins Darkwa Aboagye, under pressure from his suppliers to procure logistics for the cashew to be supplied, he had no other choice but to agree to the conditions. He revealed three months after he agreed to the terms, the Bank approved a total credit facility of GHC 12,000,000.00 to Prabhat Company limited.
“ I paid an amount of GHC 50,000 in the Presence of Ankobeahene, Nana Anim Dwumfour II to Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II”, he said.
The petitioners say shortly after the approval of the credit facility, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, started calling him incessantly to honor the agreement by giving him the loan.
“ I went cold because I realized that I would not be able to repay the Bank if I gave him the money. He (Daasebre) finally came through the Tema Branch Manager of the Bank-Kwame Peasah, who called to remind me of Daasebre’s loan and the fact that he needed it to solve an emergency and will repay in two weeks. I reached out to Daasebre who confirmed what the Branch manager had told me. At this point, considering the intense pressure from Daasebre, I agreed to his request on the condition that the loan be paid in two weeks. Daasebre then sent an account number on WhatsApp through the Branch Manager, who forwarded the same to me, after which Issued the Transfer order on 7th July 2023 for the sum of sum GHC 2,000,000.00 to the following account details.
Account Name: GoodRide Enterprise
Account Number: 1061010159648601
Account Branch: ADB head office”, Collins Darkwa Aboagye said.
Collins Darkwa Aboagye further added, that two weeks went by and Daasebre failed to pay the money. After the Third month when he failed to reap the money, he went to his palace with Ankobeahene to demand repayment as the interest of the two million cedis was beginning to pile up. Daasebre then told him that the bank would give him a six-month moratorium within which he should repay the money.
“As time went on, I intensified my demand for Daasebre to repay the money. He then sent his driver to deliver to me the cash sum of USD$20,000. Since then all efforts to reach Daasebre to repay the balance yielded no results as he refused to pick up my calls nor respond to my messages”, he said.
On September 12, 2024, the CEO for Prabhat Trading Limited, Collins Darkwa Aboagye petitioned the office of the President to intervene and help him recover the sum of GHC 2,406,000.00.
The office of the President has directed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, Kwahu Abenehene, and the Kwahumanhene to transmit his response to the office within 7 days of receipt of the letter.
