Parliament is set to reconvene for the fifth meeting of its fourth session today, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The temporary relocation to the AICC is necessary due to ongoing renovation works in the main chamber of Parliament.
In a formal statement signed by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and issued on September 30, 2024, Members of Parliament were officially informed about the reconvening of the House for this meeting.
Prior to this session, Parliament convened a two-day emergency sitting at the Dome, during which it approved a $250 million loan agreement with the World Bank. This loan is designated to support Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme.
The agreement, initially disapproved before Parliament’s recess, was a key factor in the House’s recall on September 3, 2024. The loan facility is aimed at addressing critical challenges in Ghana’s energy sector, particularly issues of financial sustainability and operational efficiency, which are vital for the country’s economic stability.
