On Saturday, November 2, a daring daylight robbery unfolded at Adabraka Market in Accra, leaving residents and shoppers in shock. Four heavily armed and masked men targeted a man in a red Toyota Corolla parked near the bustling market, carrying out their attack in full view of bystanders.
According to witnesses, the robbers approached the vehicle with guns drawn, immediately firing shots into the air to disperse the crowd. Shoppers and vendors scrambled for cover, seeking safety behind stalls as gunfire rang through the area.
The robbers forced their way into the Toyota, seizing large sacks of cash stored inside. Within minutes, they loaded the bags into their own getaway vehicle, a Toyota Highlander, and fled the scene, firing more shots to deter onlookers from intervening.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the robbers appeared to target gold dealers in the area. The owner of a gold shop had reportedly just arrived at the market with bags of cash when the gunmen struck. Some onlookers noted that the robbers even threw money into the air, creating a distraction and adding to the panic.
Videos captured by bystanders quickly spread on social media, showing the organized, rapid movements of the robbers and the terror that overtook the market. As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not yet confirmed the details of the robbery, but the widely circulated footage has raised serious concerns about security in the area.
