The Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement, Ghana ( ADAM-GH), Azubila Emmanuel Abdul-Salam, has been acquitted and discharged after the Ashaiman District Court dismissed the case against him concerning alleged threats made to Bryan Acheampong and other NPP officials.
Azubila was arrested on August 25, 2024, on allegations of threatening to burn the houses of Acheampong and other top NPP figures if they failed to hand over power following their loss in the December elections. The case was initially adjourned to November 7, 2024, after the court ordered the prosecutors and the state to submit all necessary documents and witness statements.
However, during the hearing on November 7, the prosecution requested additional time, sending a representative to plead for a new date. The presiding judge rejected this plea, expressing dissatisfaction over the failure to submit the required documents within the two-month timeframe.
The judge declared that the prosecutors had blatantly disregarded the court’s directive and, as a result, struck out the case.
Azubila, therefore, stands acquitted, bringing an end to the proceedings that have drawn significant public attention.
