The Government of Ghana has rolled out over 51 million Ghana Cedis in grants to empower young entrepreneurs as part of the “YouStart” program, a youth-focused initiative aimed at tackling unemployment.

This grant, distributed across all 16 regions, is designed to provide budding business owners with both financial support and mentoring, helping them create job opportunities in their communities.

At the “Biggest Grant and Mentoring Expo,” organized by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Chief of Staff Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare presented a symbolic cheque to beneficiaries.

Representing the President, she urged recipients to use the grants responsibly to create employment for others and drive economic growth.

“This grant is a powerful tool in your hands, so use it well to benefit others,” Madam Opare emphasized. She added that the government’s commitment to youth empowerment through “YouStart” is a key part of its agenda to reduce poverty and boost job creation.

Trade Minister Kobina Tahir Hammond and GEA CEO Kosi Yankey-Ayeh also reinforced the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs. Backed by the World Bank and Ghana’s National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP), the “YouStart” program remains a top priority in the nation’s economic strategy.
