A fire outbreak at Atonsu Bokuro in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region has claimed the life of one person and destroyed several properties.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 18, affecting about nine rooms and damaging numerous belongings.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Jerry, was reportedly asleep in one of the rooms when the fire erupted.
The Ghana National Fire Service managed to extinguish the blaze. However, Asokwa Municipal Fire Commander Bernard Nyemi-Tei highlighted that restricted access to the building significantly hampered the rescue efforts.
The deceased’s body has been sent to the morgue by the Ghana Police Service.
