Ayawaso North NCCE Holds Parliamentary Dialogue for Political Candidates

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly has facilitated a Parliamentary Dialogue for political candidates in the Ayawaso North Constituency, Greater Accra Region.

The dialogue, held on Tuesday in Accra, featured the incumbent Member of Parliament and National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Hon. Yussif Jajah, alongside the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Hon. Ibrahim Sannie. The event provided a platform for the candidates to present their policies, achievements, and development plans, while giving constituents an opportunity to question and engage with them ahead of the December 7, 2024, elections.

Fostering Peaceful and Informed Elections

In her opening remarks, Madam Pearl Addo, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Director of the NCCE, underscored the importance of informed decision-making during elections. She explained that the Parliamentary Dialogue aims to encourage constructive engagement between candidates and voters, enabling the electorate to make choices based on candidates’ visions and policies.

Madam Addo also stressed the significance of peaceful elections, urging all stakeholders to prioritize national unity.

“We want to have very peaceful elections to remain one nation, as we have always been. If elections become violent and lives are lost, votes are lost,” she cautioned.

Promoting Democratic Values

Mr. Elliot Yemoh Tetteh, Senior Information Officer of the Information Services Department, reiterated the NCCE’s commitment to fostering democracy in Ghana. He described the dialogue as a vital platform for candidates to articulate their visions and plans while urging respect for differing opinions among supporters.

“This platform allows parliamentary candidates to share their vision and plans with stakeholders, and to explain why they deserve to represent the constituency in Ghana’s Parliament after the December 7, 2024 elections,” Mr. Tetteh said.
