Greater Accra RCC Reports Improvement of Over 80km of Roads Under DRIP

The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has announced substantial progress under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), with approximately 80 kilometres of roads across five district assemblies undergoing significant improvements.

Launched in July, the initiative is designed to provide Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the necessary resources and tools to rehabilitate and maintain local road networks, particularly in underserved areas.

Key Areas of Progress

During a site visit, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, the Regional Coordinator of the DRIP project, highlighted the impressive strides made in improving road infrastructure. He noted that the initiative has successfully transformed previously unmotorable, cut-off, and inaccessible roads in key communities such as Awoshie, Sowutuom, Amasaman, Old Barrier, and Weija.

“These areas have seen great improvements, and currently, we are talking about almost 80 kilometres of road completed within the span of just three to four months,” he said.

Road Improvements by Region

  • Ga South: 26 kilometres of roads completed in Weija-Gbawe
  • Ga West: Nearly 18 kilometres of roads rehabilitated
  • Ga North: Over 12 kilometres of roads improved

This marks a significant milestone in improving the road network in the Greater Accra Region, benefiting thousands of residents and facilitating better connectivity across the region.
