The Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, has declared that the Eastern Region is under strict vigilance ahead of the 2024 general elections. Speaking emphatically to supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Acheampong stated that the region is prepared to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process while warning against any attempt to disrupt their anticipated victory.
Confidence in NPP’s Victory
Bryan Acheampong reiterated his unwavering confidence in the NPP’s chances in the upcoming elections.
“In 2022, I said the NPP would win the elections. In 2023, I said the NPP would win the elections. In 2024, everything shows that the NPP will win the elections. We will vote peacefully, we will count peacefully, and we will declare the NPP winner peacefully,” he said.
Addressing a crowd of party faithful gathered at the forecourt of the Abetifi Palace after a party-organized walk on Saturday, Acheampong assured supporters that their victory strategy is well in place.
Warning to Potential Disruptors
Acheampong sent a stern warning to anyone intending to interfere with the electoral process or the NPP’s victory.
“Anyone who dares to ruin the NPP’s win will do so at their peril. We will deal with you,” he declared.
He emphasized that the Eastern Region is fully secured and will not tolerate any disturbances.
“The Eastern Region is under lockdown, and whoever comes here will be given a showdown. If you dare misbehave in the Eastern Region, we will give you a showdown,” he warned.
Extensive Preparations by the NPP
Acheampong also highlighted the party’s readiness for the elections, noting that significant efforts have been made to mobilize support and organize effectively.
“I promise you, we have campaigned very well because we have put things in place,” he assured the crowd, underscoring the party’s focus on consolidating its base in the region.
Broader Political Context
The Eastern Region is a stronghold for the NPP, making it a key battleground for the 2024 elections. Acheampong’s remarks signal the party’s determination to maintain its dominance in the region while ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
As tensions heighten ahead of the elections, political parties and their leaders have been urged to prioritize peace and unity, refraining from actions or statements that could incite violence.
The 2024 elections are expected to be fiercely contested, with the NPP seeking to retain power and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) aiming to reclaim the presidency.
