Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, has pledged to address the persistent issue of health worker migration by focusing on industrialisation and creating more opportunities for professionals in the healthcare sector.
Speaking at a visit to the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Hohoe, Bediako promised that his administration would prioritize job creation and improved wages for health professionals, making Ghana an attractive destination for healthcare workers and encouraging them to remain in the country to contribute to its growth and development.
“The value of women in this country is dear to my heart, and I’m here to advocate for you women. I want you to become entrepreneurs and I want you to become leaders,” Bediako declared. He emphasized the power of voting and called on the trainees to use their influence to bring change. “I want to remind you that your thumb is your hidden power. We’re going to use this thumb to move the people who have not cared about us, the people who have not been worried about us, the people who don’t know how to take us to the destiny of our future,” he added.
Bediako’s commitment highlights his focus on empowering professionals and fostering an environment that encourages their retention and growth within the country.
