Research firm Global InfoAnalytics has projected a decisive victory for former President John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in Ghana’s highly anticipated 2024 presidential elections.

According to the latest findings, Mahama is expected to secure 52.2% of the vote, outpacing his closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is projected to receive 41.4%.

Other notable contenders, including Alan Kyeremanten, running as an independent, and businessman Nana Kwame Bediako, are forecasted to garner 2.5% and 3.0%, respectively. Minor candidates collectively account for 0.9% of the vote.

Parliamentary Dynamics

The NDC is also predicted to dominate Ghana’s parliamentary landscape, securing 150 seats, compared to the NPP’s 99 seats. One independent candidate is expected to win, while 29 constituencies are currently deemed highly competitive and too close to call.

Regional Insights

  • Mahama’s Strongholds: Greater Accra, Central, Western, Volta, and Bono East regions.
  • Bawumia’s Base: Ashanti, Eastern, Bono, and North East regions.

These regional dynamics are anticipated to play a critical role in shaping the final results of both the presidential and parliamentary races.

Voter Turnout Expectations

An average voter turnout of 77.6% is expected, with regional variations likely to influence the outcome.
