The leader of the Afranfranto Alliance and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has declared that 60% of all political appointments are for young people under his administration.
This bold promise was made during the Afranfranton Youth Dialogue, held on December 1, 2024, at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
Themed “Securing the Future of the Ghanaian Youth” and dubbed “Jobs for the Boys, Cash for the Girls,” the event offered Kyerematen a platform to engage directly with young Ghanaians, share his vision, and present his comprehensive 10-point plan for youth empowerment.
He highlighted his unwavering commitment to youth development through innovative initiatives in his address to the youth. “Every young person will have a chance to be in the military for at least one year with no protocol. This will be an opportunity to prove themselves, gain discipline, and contribute meaningfully to national security,” he stated.
Alan’s 10-Point Plan for Youth Empowerment
1. National Youth Entrepreneurship Program: A dedicated program to support young entrepreneurs with start-up capital, business mentorship, and infrastructure to scale their ventures.
2. Youth in Agriculture Initiative: Incentives for youth to engage in modernized, technology-driven agriculture with guaranteed markets and access to resources like land and tools.
3. Technical and Vocational Education Boost: Enhancing technical and vocational education to bridge the skills gap and align training with the demands of a competitive job market.
4. Digital Economy Transformation: Equipping the youth with advanced digital skills to position them as leaders in the global tech space.
5. Job Creation Strategy: Launching industrial parks and creating employment hubs to address youth unemployment, especially in rural areas.
6. Creative Arts and Sports Development: Prioritizing investment in creative arts, sports, and entertainment as alternative, viable career paths for young people.
7. Youth-Friendly Financial Systems: Establishing financial schemes to make loans accessible and affordable for young entrepreneurs and professionals.
8. Green Economy Engagement: Engaging youth in eco-friendly businesses and sustainable initiatives like renewable energy and environmental conservation.
9. Leadership Development and Governance: Actively involving the youth in governance and leadership roles to build a pipeline of future leaders.
10. Health and Well-Being Support: Expanding access to healthcare, with an emphasis on mental health resources and youth-focused programs.
Reflecting on his industrial achievements, Kyerematen reminded the audience of his innovative contributions to Ghana’s economy. “I was the first person to produce industrial starch, which was used to produce the first cassava beer in Ghana. This is the kind of innovation and leadership I want to bring to the national level,” he said.
The Afranfranton Youth Dialogue attracted youth leaders, activists, and community representatives who expressed optimism about Kyerematen’s vision, particularly his commitment to youth inclusion in governance and job creation.
Alan Kyerematen further urged the youth to actively participate in shaping the nation’s future. “Together, we can build a Ghana where the dreams and aspirations of every young person are realized. Let’s rise and secure a thriving future for our country,” he declared.
