President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to equitable development across Ghana, highlighting infrastructure as a cornerstone of national progress.
Speaking at the inauguration of Phase II of the Tema Motorway Interchange on December 2, 2024, the President emphasized that the project is a strategic effort to decentralize economic opportunities and reduce regional disparities.
“The commissioning of this interchange is part of a deliberate strategy to decentralize economic opportunities and ensure equitable development across the nation,” Akufo-Addo stated. He referenced previous projects, such as the Pokuase Interchange, the largest in West Africa, and the Tamale Interchange, the first of its kind in Northern Ghana, as evidence of his government’s commitment to opening up the country and empowering communities.
A Comprehensive Development Agenda
The President highlighted his administration’s investments in other sectors, including railways, healthcare, and education, as part of a broader agenda to create a resilient, inclusive, and economically vibrant Ghana. He pointed out that these efforts aim to address long-standing disparities while building a foundation for sustainable growth.
Reducing Traffic Congestion
Over the past two weeks, President Akufo-Addo has commissioned other significant infrastructure projects, such as the Flowerpot Interchange and the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility in the capital city, Accra.
Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that these developments would not only enhance transportation efficiency but also serve as catalysts for economic growth and development across all regions of Ghana.
