President Akufo-Addo to Inaugurate Agenda 111 Hospitals Today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will inaugurate two hospitals under the flagship Agenda 111 initiative today, December 5, 2024. The event signifies a major stride in the government’s mission to expand healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality healthcare services across Ghana.

The hospitals to be inaugurated include the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital in Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both situated in the Ashanti Region. These state-of-the-art facilities are part of a nationwide plan to construct 111 district and specialized hospitals to enhance healthcare delivery.

Modern Healthcare Facilities
Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, provided details on the facilities, describing them as comprehensive healthcare units equipped with advanced medical technology and staffed with trained personnel.

“We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency centre, neonatal and pediatric units, a maternity home, a kitchen, a mortuary, OPD, a pharmacy, an X-ray unit, and a laboratory. There is also an eye department, dental department, ENT department, public health units, and consulting rooms,” Dr. Nsiah-Asare explained.

These modern features aim to ensure efficient service delivery and cater to a wide range of medical needs, from public health services to specialized care.

A Vision for Enhanced Healthcare Access
The Agenda 111 initiative is a cornerstone of President Akufo-Addo’s vision to address longstanding challenges in Ghana’s healthcare system, including overcrowding in existing facilities and inadequate access to medical services in underserved regions.

Beyond infrastructure, the initiative aims to bolster health outcomes by reducing the burden on overstretched hospitals and bringing quality care closer to communities.

Milestone in Healthcare Development
Today’s inauguration represents another significant milestone in the realization of this ambitious healthcare development project. As the government continues to roll out Agenda 111, Ghanaians across the country are expected to benefit from improved access to comprehensive healthcare services.

The move underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing health disparities and ensuring equitable healthcare for all citizens.
