The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its supporters to vacate collation centres and return home, entrusting the party’s leadership and technical teams to oversee the remainder of the electoral process.
The call comes as tensions continue to escalate at the Accra regional collation centre, particularly over delays in announcing results for the Ablekuma North constituency. The delay has reportedly been caused by a dispute involving the presiding officer and representatives from both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement issued on December 10, the NDC commended its agents and supporters for their vigilance during the collation process. The party reassured members that all necessary measures are in place to ensure transparency and fairness in the conclusion of the electoral procedures.
“Your dedication and efforts at the collation centres have been invaluable,” the statement noted. “We urge you now to trust the process and allow the leadership to manage the rest. Together, we will achieve the victory that Ghana deserves.”
The NDC also emphasized the importance of remaining calm and united as the final results are awaited, expressing confidence in their ability to secure a positive outcome for the party.
This appeal follows a series of tense incidents reported at collation centres nationwide, reflecting the high stakes and anticipation surrounding the 2024 general elections.
