NDC’s Haruna Appau Wiredu Wins Historic Victory in Fanteakwa North

Haruna Appau Wiredu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Fanteakwa North Constituency, has been declared Member of Parliament-elect in a groundbreaking win.

Zacharia Adams, the constituency’s Returning Officer, announced that Appau Wiredu secured 11,138 votes, edging out the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Kwame Appiah Koduah, who garnered 10,847 votes. A total of 581 ballots were rejected during the process.

A Landmark Victory

This triumph marks a historic milestone for the NDC, as it is the first time the party has secured both the presidential and parliamentary victories in Fanteakwa North, a constituency long regarded as an NPP stronghold.

Speaking to the media after his declaration, Haruna Appau Wiredu expressed gratitude to the people of Fanteakwa North for their confidence in his leadership.

“This victory is not just mine—it’s a testament to the will of the people. I am committed to serving with dedication and ensuring the constituency sees the development it deserves,” Appau Wiredu stated.

Shifting Voter Dynamics

The victory signifies a notable shift in voter sentiment within Fanteakwa North, reflecting a broader trend of change observed in the 2024 elections. The constituency’s history of favoring the NPP makes this win particularly significant, highlighting the effectiveness of the NDC’s campaign strategy and its resonance with constituents.

Haruna Appau Wiredu’s victory adds to the NDC’s strong performance in the parliamentary elections, where the party has secured several critical wins across traditionally NPP-dominated constituencies.
