Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s Transition Team, has announced that appointments made after December 7, 2024, will be subject to reversal under the new administration.
The decision arises amid allegations of last-minute recruitment efforts and a controversial payment of GH₵240 million to a business partner of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Kwakye Ofosu criticized the timing of these actions, noting the potential strain on Ghana’s already challenged public finances.
Concerns Over Recruitment and Payments
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Kwakye Ofosu stressed that such actions undermine standard processes and hinted at possible irregularities.
“We will be scrutinising all such appointments. So, all appointments that do not meet basic laid down regulations or are in violation of recruitment processes will be reversed,” he stated.
He also warned individuals involved in these last-minute recruitments of potential nullification, advising against further engagement in actions he deemed unsustainable and procedurally flawed.
Next Steps
The Mahama Transition Team is poised to review all recent financial transactions and appointments to ensure compliance with established regulations and safeguard the public purse. These measures underscore the incoming administration’s commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility.
