President-elect John Dramani Mahama has acknowledged the formidable economic challenges Ghana faces and pledged his unwavering commitment to spearhead the nation’s recovery efforts.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra on Sunday, December 15, Mahama highlighted the severity of Ghana’s current economic crisis. He assured Ghanaians of his determination to restore prosperity while seeking divine guidance to navigate the challenges ahead.
Economic Recovery a Top Priority
Mahama emphasized the complexity of the economic task awaiting his administration. He recognized the significant effort required to rebuild Ghana’s economy, which has been grappling with high inflation, currency depreciation, and public debt.
“I can confirm that our country is still in a very severe economic crisis, and it is going to take a lot of work to bring it back. It is going to be a very tough task to restore our economic prosperity, but I pray that the God who gave me this responsibility will give me the strength and the wisdom to handle it,” Mahama said.
Focus on Team Selection
The President-elect underscored the importance of assembling a competent team to drive the country’s recovery agenda. He expressed confidence in divine discernment to guide his choices for key leadership positions in his administration.
“I pray that God gives me the sense of discernment and wisdom to choose the right people to work in the best interest of the people of Ghana,” he stated.
Faith in Ghana’s Resilience
Mahama reassured Ghanaians of his faith in the country’s resilience and divine favor. He expressed optimism that with collective effort and trust in God, Ghana would emerge stronger.
“God’s favour is still on our dear country Ghana, and I know he will not forsake us,” he declared.
