President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to potential appointees, urging them to only seek positions in his upcoming administration if they are genuinely committed to serving the public.

During his thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra, Mahama stressed the importance of dedication, humility, and hard work in leadership. He emphasized that serving in government is not for personal gain, but for the welfare of the people of Ghana.

“People who are considering themselves for various positions … and I just want to warn them, it is not going to be a walk in the park. If you are not prepared to work and serve the people of Ghana, diligently, with modesty and humility, then do not come. Just stay where you are,” Mahama stated.

He further reflected on the lessons from the election, which he said reinforced the idea that power belongs to the people, not the leaders themselves. Mahama also called for a return to humility, acknowledging that leaders must remember they are in power temporarily and should serve the people with utmost responsibility.

“God has made us know that power belongs to the people. It should serve as a lesson to those of us who are coming into government,” Mahama concluded.
