The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nii Ashie Moore, has reiterated that the party has won 31 out of 34 parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region during the recent elections.

Speaking after an event to appreciate the efforts of party supporters, Ashie Moore dismissed claims by the Electoral Commission (EC) that results from constituencies such as Ablekuma North, Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Dome-Kwabenya were incomplete and would not be accepted. He insisted that results were properly collated and declared in those constituencies and that the party’s victories were valid.
“As a regional chairman, I visited every collation center of the said constituencies. Results were announced, certified, and polling agents from all political parties, including the NDC, were present. I even witnessed the declarations and raised the hands of the winners,” Ashie Moore stated.
The EC, led by Chairperson Jean Mensa, earlier announced irregularities in certain constituencies. For instance:
- Okaikwei Central: Results from 31 polling stations were omitted.
- Ablekuma North: Results from 62 polling stations were not collated.
Despite this, Ashie Moore remains confident that all 31 elected Members of Parliament (MPs) will be sworn in on January 6, 2025. “We will use every legitimate means to ensure that our parliamentary candidates who have won the election are duly sworn in,” he assured.
The Regional Chairman also praised the party’s members and supporters for their hard work, which contributed to John Dramani Mahama’s decisive victory in the presidential race and the acquisition of parliamentary seats in the region. He promised that their efforts would not go unrecognized, stating, “Everyone who played a role in this success will be duly rewarded.”
The NDC’s strong showing in Greater Accra underscores its significant influence in the region as the party prepares for a new parliamentary session.
