A US-based Professor of Political Science, Prof. Sarfo Kantanka has made a strong statement concerning who will be an ideal General Secretary for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in its process of necessary healing, rebuilding, rebranding, and recapturing agenda.
According to Prof. Sarfo Kantanka, the formal member of parliament for the Subin Constituency in the Ashanti region has all the needed qualities and characteristics of a General Secretary that most NPP members wish for the party at this moment. He made these comments at the back of social media comments supposedly published by Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, popularly known as Kofi Ghana in Ghanaian politics.
The good professor insists that the description of an ideal General Secretary as it appears in the comments posted by Kofi Ghana depicts the person and demeanor of Eugene Boakye Antwi.
Read Kofi Jumah’s comments below…
“I just can’t sleep. How did we move from 100 to 0? We did very well with service delivery and infrastructural development however, some of our actions were so damning and outrageous causing rage among the Ghanaian people. Rage which made them pour away the bathed water with the baby. Some of our actions were extremely unreasonable.
How on earth do we insist on building a cathedral with state funds at the time of our financial challenge thereby spending some over 50 million dollars on same? I mean how? How do we insist on keeping a Finance Minister in office whose outfit remained the transaction advisors that benefited from any borrowing of the state and when it became so obvious we had borrowed too much exceeding the 70% of GDP in fragrant violation of our financial laws… I mean how could a Democratic Party like ours that touts itself of the rule of law do this? How?
Then comes the almighty domestic debt restructuring.. the beyond- belief, inconceivable, the unthinkable! My God!!!!! Did we come to power to give to the people or to take from them? How on earth, are able to eat, sleep and move about seeing pensioners who have invested in government bonds with the aim of earning few cedis for their upkeep be forced to accept an arrangement that their own funds cannot be given to them at the time they want? Like seriously?? At the same time some people in government kept receiving salaries, allowances, state organized programmes, we kept procuring new things for the state.
Look, truth be told, it is going to take a long long time for Ghanaians to calm their tempers down on some of these actions. The current administration may make mistakes but not to this tune… nothing they do will be apart with our ills when compared to and so we must prepare to endure.
We need a complete overhauling.
A proper image rebuilding must start now. Those infamous faces must be forced to take the back bench. We need stronger national chairman and an imposing figure as a general secretary. Ones that will command respect and have national appeal not only within the party but also have a good perception among the Ghanaian general public.
Lets completely cut of the insane doll out of money to delegates during primaries. It is outmoded, it is crass, it is insulting and injurious to the general voting population. All card bearing members in the each constitution must be granted the honour to vote elect the candidate of his or her party.
Power within the party should be taken away from those who have it now for they have mishandle it. They have caused more harm than good with that power. They have caused more hate than ever against our party.
Let’s rebuild the image of our party
Note: I was just ranting, forgive me if there are mistakes… kindly correct them for me.”
